What is shareholder voting?
Shareholder voting is the process by which investors in a company influence key company decisions. Shareholders typically vote on matters such as electing board members, approving mergers, setting executive compensation, and more.
However, historically, retail shareholders rarely participated and voting was dominated by a few big institutions.
Do retail investors normally participate in voting?
Many retail investors are unaware of their voting rights or do not participate. However, even individual investors who own stocks through brokerage accounts or ETFs often have the ability to vote or influence voting through their fund managers.
How can I vote as an individual shareholder?
If you own shares directly in a public company, you will receive proxy materials before shareholder meetings from your broker (e.g., Fidelity, Vanguard, etc.). You can vote by mail, online, or in person. If you hold shares through an ETF or mutual fund, you likely have limited influence, but you can review how your fund manager votes on your behalf.
Does Wayout Future vote on behalf of its investors?
